Atlatl science the S shape dart and the flexible atlatl.

I have been interested in atlatls over the last 6 months, and just last week shot my first ISAC. What I observed from my own practicing, from watching others, and from viewing various videos and...

Re: Atlatl science the S shape dart and the flexible atlatl.

Very interesting! I went in to fix the links in your post for you, and thought better of it (I was afraid to mess up your post!) - thus the "edited by Paleoaleo" comment at the end of your post.I...

Re: Atlatl science the S shape dart and the flexible atlatl.

Here's my two cents worth in a couple drawingsThe spring away from hook idea does'nt explain the tail moving upwith very flexable darts. If the dimple in end of dart is too deepeven on a dart that was...

Re: Atlatl science the S shape dart and the flexible atlatl.

The Dons maps thing is correct. It comes from New Scientist 15 May 1999. A properly tuned dart flexes up then down then pushes away from the spur of the atlatl (accelerating the dart just a little...

Re: Atlatl science the S shape dart and the flexible atlatl.

The image at photos.imageevent.com/pal...ED%202.jpgalso seems to suggest an S curve is formed. The upward curve is only at the back and the front end is either straight or may have a downward curve.It...

Re: Atlatl science the S shape dart and the flexible atlatl.

When I saw where the camera was on those shots!!!Tom, I printed out your picture and drew in the line of the atlatl with a pen, and looked at it edge on. Yes, there seems to be a slight downward dip...
